Hi,
I don't know why old man me thought that it would be a good idea to throw a New Year's Eve party at my house until 2:00 am this morning, but here we are.
Fortunately, I woke up feeling surprisingly great today.
Wanna know why?
Of course you do.
1. I drank a lot of Gatorade yesterday to prepare for the night. Things aren't like they used to be back in my 20s.
2. It's a new year, which means everyone in the M$$M community has awesome new BIG money goals & objectives for themselves
I've seen a lot of great goals already, and it really got me thinking on my own journey with personal finance and finance in general, over the years.
And as I was reflecting, I realized that I've had a huge mindset shift since I was a mid to high school band director and 'rockstar'.
I wanted to share it with you, because I think it will help:
So back in the day when I was drowning in my $40k - 50k of student loans, I felt pretty helpless at times.
Like I'll never forget that feeling of dread that I had when I opened the first letter from Sallie Mae and looked at my balance... though I paid on time it never changed.
It was crazy. I mean I should have seen it coming, but somehow I wasn't really prepared for what that was going to feel like.
Anyway, so eventually I went to work on my loans.
I lived below my means as far as I possibly could.
I said no to everything.
No cool new car, no fancy apartment or nice vacations etc., like all of my friends were taking.
It sucked. Not going to sugar coat it. The process of paying off my debt was not fun at all. Is there life after debt, you ask?
But don't get me wrong - I learned a lot during that time.
Being frugal, sacrificing, waiting, and everything else I had to do to pay off my loans made me who I am today.
But at the same time...
... I was really selling myself and my ability to go out and make extra money pretty short.
The only thing I new how to do was be a teacher. I had a degree in it. How could I do anything else, you know?
At least... that's what I told myself at the time.
The reality is that if I had found a way to make more money in my early years of being a teacher, I would have paid off my loans even faster.
I could have saved more. Invested more. Maybe taken a cool vacation a little earlier (but with cash).
I WISH that I hadn't held myself back by telling myself that I couldn't go out and make more money.
So here's the point:
If you are wanting to make your financial goals happen faster this year, make yourself happier and you know that making more money would REALLY help out...
... I just want you to know that you can do it. You have already everything you need. You CAN make more money on the side. I promise. I see it every day from people all over the world in the M$$M community.
And let's be honest - if I can go from teacher with student loans to multiple business owner (without any student loans) in just a few months or years, you can 100% start a 'side hustle' and be successful with it.
And fortunately for you, there are a ton of options out there right now in 2020. Let's begin and therein set the tone for 2921 and the decade...
You just have to choose one from this giant freaking list I made. :)
My thanks in advance for your attention, time, trouble, attention and consideration.
To Your Abundant Success!
Cheers,
- Johnny
P.S. - Happy New Year! What's your big money goal for 2020?
