I offered a KILLER offer.

Many moons ago, I had an employee who ordered an excess supply of a health supplement I was selling.

The mistake was understandable.

His wife just had a baby so he hadn't slept right in several weeks.

With that said, we had a problem.

We were suddenly overstocked (by a LOT) and had a new shipment coming the following month.

We needed to get rid of the excess stock fast, so I created one of my now famous "goof" email promos.

The promo explained the mistake (the goof) and the predicament we were in.

To get rid of this excess inventory, I offered my customers a KILLER offer.

I gave them the chance to buy 3 bottles of product and get an extra 3 free… or else… buy 6 bottles and get 6 free.

The offer was hot, hot, HOT!

Plus, it came with a healthy dose of scarcity and urgency.

Not to mention acrimony and asperity from my wifey!;-)

The promo warned that the excess stock would not last long.

It would be given away on a first-come-first-served basis and we expected to sell out in 72 hours.

Well, guess what happened?

Our customers went absolutely NUTS for the offer!

In fact, it got the highest response of any promo we mailed to our customers at that time.

It was this experience that turned me onto the immensely profitable genre of advertising known simply as "flash sales."

Flash sales are super short email campaigns that include the following…

An incredibly generous offer

A strong incentive to buy

A logical reason why you're making the offer

An urgent deadline

An explanation of what your customer will lose by not ordering.

Flash sales are usually 24 to 72 hours long.

The incentives can range from special discounts, to more product, bonus gifts and/or bundle offerings.

Flash sales are commonly used to sell existing customers more stuff on your back end.

But smart marketers (the REAL clever cats) make flash sales part of their offer on the front end when acquiring customers for the first time.

In this sense, flash sales can boost your front end sales (significantly)… and… earn you a small fortune on the backend.

Flash sales can be used to sell anything.

  • Info products
  • Physical products
  • Services
  • Software
  • You name it
