Fwd: “Everyone has a plan ‘til they get punched in the mouth.”

Hi,

Mike Tyson said it best.

"Everyone has a plan 'til they get punched in the mouth.

Maybe you decided that this year is going to be THE year something changes.

You're going to get into better shape...

You're going to eat healthier.

And maybe you're finally going to take your career to the next level.

But someone…something…somehow...knocked you off balance.

And now your goal has been put "on hold".

Maybe the gym just seems way too crowded by all those New Year's resolutions people…

Maybe the house is still just full of irresistible cookies and chocolates from the holidays...

Or maybe some new project at work just seems to have thrown you totally off course...

Well, I want you to know you're not the only one.

I've had my plans fall apart too.

So many times I decided I would do something. And then just a few weeks I had lost all motivation, and got distracted by other things.

And most people have this problem.

They start the year optimistic, but something happens - and their plans all get punched in the mouth.

And before they know it, they're flat on their back, looking up at the ceiling and wondering:

"What the heck just happened?"

"Where did I go wrong this time?"

"Why am I even trying to make a change?"

Sadly, most people then say.

"Maybe next year."

And they doubt themselves and think.

"Maybe this just isn't meant to be. Maybe I'm not supposed to... "

So they stay lying down. They let time pass them by while doing nothing. And that's when they're defeated.

K.O.

But not everyone gives up...

If you're reading this email, I'm going to assume you're one of those people that doesn't want to give up.

You do want to achieve your goals. And you do want to make 2020 your best year yet.

So,...

"Will you stand back up?"

Just because your plan is shaken up, doesn't mean you failed.

It's like when a boxer gets knocked down. He hasn't lost yet…

He can still get back up, get back in the fight, and win.

So. As long as you get back up, you still have a shot.

Now, I've spent over a decade reading productivity books and books on habit and everything else I could get my hand on to find the secret to achieving your goals. And here's one of the best pieces of advice I've found in all those books.

Make Your Goals Big Enough To Inspire You.

Do you know why?

It's because motivation doesn't last...

It'll last a week or two, maybe a month at best. But after that, you need to have something deeper.

Your goals need to be big enough to inspire you.

If I am not inspired by my goal, it's a good indicator I'm probably not going to accomplish it...

Think about it, if you had the goal to lose just one pound this year, do you think you'd be inspired?

Do you think you'd start going to the gym three days a week and cut back on all sugar?

Do you think you'd go through all that pain just to lose one pound?

I don't think so.

Maybe you would. But I definitely wouldn't.

For me, it's just too easy not to do it.

And what's worse, you could procrastinate all the way until December and still think you're on track…

That's why you need a big, inspirational goal.

Because then there's nowhere to hide.

You'll very quickly know if you're working towards the goal or not.

And when you get knocked down, you'll also stay inspired to keep going.

And by the way, that's the other thing. When you're inspired, it's easier to get up.

Attempt A didn't work? No problem.

You'll regroup and do Attempt B.

And if Attempt B, C, and D still get knocked down?

You have the WHOLE alphabet - and each time you go for it, you'll do better than the one before it.

And before you know it you'll actually start making incredible progress and finally achieve your New Year's resolutions.

So just keep going. You can do this.
